PRESS RELEASE: LIBERTY SPECIALTY MARKETS APPOINTS RICHARD RICHARDS TO THE HEAD OF PROPERTY DIRECT AND FACULTATIVE 

(02 November 2026) – Liberty Specialty Markets (Liberty), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Richards as head of property direct and facultative (D&F), effective immediately. Based in London, Richards will report to Kevin Demmon, divisional director, property, UK and MENA. 

Richards will be responsible for leading Liberty’s London property D&F team, overseeing the portfolio and setting the strategic direction for sustainable growth through strong underwriting performance.

Demmon said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard to the team as we continue to develop and enhance our property D&F portfolio. His wealth of knowledge across the D&F market will help Liberty to continue to augment its international property offering.”

Richards has more than 20 years’ experience in property D&F. He was previously at Chaucer Syndicates where he spent 10 years as a senior class underwriter and prior to that worked at Allianz and Zurich.
